Daily sugar intake, what should it be?

Hi, I usually never count grams of sugar mainly fat and calories however I noticed my daily intake is about 150 grams on a good day when I don't drink any pop or refined sugars. My Fitness Pal states that I should be getting 41 g a day, does this include refined sugars or sugar as whole from fruit and fruit juices?

I've noticed that MFP doesn't know the difference between good sugars (from whole foods) & bad sugars (that are added to food). Personally I make sure that all my sugar comes from whole foods. Since doing that my daily intake of sugar has dropped from over 160 g per day to around 30-50 g. Too much sugar isn't good for your body. So if I'm slightly over on my sugar I'm not worried because it was all from whole food.0

It appears that it counts all sugars. I was not tracking my sugar, but now that I have added it, I am over every day. It says I should only eat 25 grams of sugar each day. That seems impossible. It is already a struggle to stay below the protein and carbs while still getting enough calories.0

Personally I have mine set at 60g and I try to make sure its all from whole foods like fruits. I've gone over the past few weeks a couple times when I splurged on Easter candy. I used to have it set at 30g but I'd get mad seeing it go over even if it was just from an apple and a banana. I eat 1 apple and 1 banana every day at work and its 30g of sugar! So I raised it according to stats I found on another site and I just make sure its sugar from whole food.0

That's what I figured! One Apple I ate had 19 grams of sugar! and then my orange juice (not from concentrate) has 22 grams so eating these two things put me over! I'll set it a bit higher and see what happens, thanks!0

Fruit and dairy are high in sugar but I don't think it's the bad for you kind of sugar. I find the sugar calculator kind of pointless for me. I've lost weight despite going over most days because I eat fruit and have 2 servings of dairy per day.0
