Woke up yesterday feeling like the start of another sinus infection. I missed the gym for 2 weeks b/c I was sick and then the craziness of the holidays. Now I want to get back on track wtih my running, but as the morning goes on I'm wondering if I should skip it again today and try for tomorrow. I've only been to the gym about 5 times in the last few weeks. I'm never going to reach my goals if this keeps up. Either me or the kids are sick!

The rule of thumb I always heard is that if you're sick from the neck up, it's ok to exercise if you feel like it, if you're sick from the neck down, better to wait. Most importantly, listen to your body and wipe down the machines afterwards so no one gets what you've got.

Definately feeling it all over now so think I will skip the gym during lunch. My head is killing me and I don't kow how I could run feeling like this.

I tried that about a week ago and had to leave mid workout.

    Rest.
  • I am in the same boat. I went ahead and ran yesterday, and plan on it today as well. I have a terrible sore throat and head cold!

Your body needs the rest and it needs your energy to get itself better...best not to expend that energy on a treadmill.

    Walk and/or strength train.

You could always try for 5-10min and judge based on how you feel. Pack it in if its miserable... or keep going if it feels good, sometimes people feel better with exercise.

Honestly, if its more then a head cold, your body needs to rest, or you will take longer to feel better. Theres no shame in taking it easy so your body can recoup.
