Hi all, just a bit frustrated as it seems like I can never make it to my goal weight. I start doing all the right things, dieting and exercising, loose some of the weight and then puts it back on. its been like this past 4 yrs up and down. to top it all off I have been having this pain in my lower back which means I cant exercise as I used to. Any advice please?

I know how you feel. I lost a lot of weight in 2011 and basically gave up in 2012. 2012 was about putting on all the weight again and then some. Hopefully 2013 will be about losing the weight for good! Good luck in your journey

Don't give up. I've been at this forever. Try to stay focused. Try the tricking your body by a new exercise and low carb for a few days.

Make a plan and stick to it. Willpower. Determination. Dedication.

Go see a specialist about the back pain.

I have to give myself a talk from time to time. The reality is I will never be happy at the weight I am now (215). If I stopped today I would just have to lose it at some point. Why not lose it now rather than wait 5 or 10 years that I could enjoy being fit and healthy? I am not going to wake up one day and magically be 80lbs lighter. It all comes down to how badly you want it.

Just do the right things everyday. Inconsistent effort = inconsistent results.

When you want it bad enough, you just do. I don't know how else to explain it. I surround myself with people who support me, which helps, but at the end of the day, I want to be healthier for ME. And I welcome the challenge. I challenge myself daily, and when I fail miserably, I pick myself up and try again.

Start slow with the exercise, but keep at it until it becomes a part of your routine. I NEVER thought it would be a part of my routine, but after a few weeks, it was. And now, over a year later, I FREAK if I have to miss a workout for whatever reason.

    You'll get there! :flowerforyou:
  • I've been in a similar boat these last couple years. I recently decided to shift my mindset. Right now, I'm prioritizing working out and getting in better physical shape rather than losing weight. Even if I end up weighing the same, but I have more endurance and energy, I will be much happier and healthier.

it's mental. once your mind frame changes and you become more determined you'll succeed. try to figure out what causes you to quit or slack. for me i can be an emotional eater. now that i know that i pay attention and talk myself away from the comfort food. keep at it.

Will power, and finding something you truly enjoy. If you hate every minute of it, of course you'll fail.
