Do you wash the strap every 4 or 5 times you use it and ( dont feel insulted) did you put the new battery in right side up

Another thing to try in addition to those listed above, is cleaning the connections on the sensor & the strap with rubbing alcohol.

I never put it in the washing machine but wash in warn soapy water and rinse and yes the battery is in the right way round (no offense taken)

Are you wetting your chest strap (at the gray pads) before you put it on? You HAVE to do this for it to work. Run it under the faucet and make sure it is nice and wet.

The chest unit AND the watch both have batteries.... your other one may be dead.

Mine did that once but it was because there was a small drop of water inside the "snap" connectors from when I had wet the strap. Once I made sure it was dry it worked fine.

Ive tried wetting the strap, I'm assuming that the watch is ok cos it has a display and will search for HR but just keeps coming up 00

mine started messing up after owning it for 6 months, so I went to go buy a new one from big 5. the guy there told me to just bring in the broken one and he would replace it. I didn't even have my receipt. so I took in my old FT4 paid 20 bucks and upgraded to a new FT7.

when my watch would not pick up my heart rate I realized that I had my strap on incorrectly. The hook is usually on the left side of my body, but that day it was on the right. I didn't think that it mattered but I guess it does. Once I put it back to the left it started working correctly again. hth

Also, maybe it is just time to tighten the strap? Mine has done this 2 or 3 times and I found that making sure the strap is tight enough usually solves the problem. Good luck!

Mine did the same thing and I've done all of the above and it still doesn't work. I've given up on it to be honest.

The washing machine did the trick for me. That and tightening the strap... A lot! (To the point where its almost uncomfortable) I also tried hooking it on the other side (right)..it seems to work better on that side.
