After a week or two of cheating, I am starting over....again! It is really disappointing because I think, how many times am I going to have to decide to start this journey before I actually DO IT????? *sigh* It is harder than I thought to change bad habits.

I totally agree. It is hard to stay on the straight and narrow. I struggle with that myself. Good luck to you on your journey.0

The imprtant thing is that you are starting over, and not just letting yourself go
You can do this
Hope you can stick to this0 -
Hi Abbychelle, just be patient and keep trying, weight loss and good exercise habits are hard work, just
try setting small acheivalble goals, and as those small goals are acheived, it will become easier, and the
temptation to cheat will become less of a draw. Just stick with it, and when you acheive a goal, then you
can reward yourself with somthing that you like, as long as you don't overdue it..... Good Luck to you! BJ0 -
I'm in the same boat as you. I was doing great and had lost 9 lbs. Then we went on vacation and I gained about 5 of them back. I found it very difficult last week- the first week back on the wagon so to speak - to stick to my calories. I went over my allotment 3 out of the 4 days last week!
But today is another day and like you, I'm starting over again. I'm just trying to remind myself of why I wanted to do this in the first place and to get back on track.
I found that doing a little advanced planning was helpful to me at first so I'm trying to do that again. Like, going to the grocery store to make sure that I have things I can eat that are low fat/calorie but satisfying and making sure that I have healthy snacks around so I can avoid the dreaded vending machine at work.
It is difficult to to do but in the end will be worth it. And you are right - it takes time to change habits. But you can do it!!! And the fact that you have decided to start over is a positive thing. Good Luck!0 -
Thanks everyone. I just find it so discouraging that if I would have stuck with it the first time, the second time, etc. I would have seen results by now! Instead I am still "starting."
I find it helpful to plan all my meals in the morning or the night before. Just a rough estimate, and I adjust as the day goes on. But it's one way I don't eat 75% of my calories before lunch.
I also need to avoid situations where I usually overeat. Sometimes during errands I would go through the drive-through. Now I do it even if I'm not hungry, because the thought of the food is drawing me. And the food isn't even that good!!!!!!!
I bought a swimsuit a month ago, you would have thought that would motivate me!
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one struggling, but man, you would think "eat less" would be a no-brainer!0 -

Hey now! Time to forgive and move on, it's really hard when we slip up but then to beat ourselves up over it, we all know that can lead to bad things more than it can to good.
Like you said, try the pre-planning and it will take a good few days of solid menu following to get the fast food junk outta your mind and body and remember when you have the craving it's more than likely because your body is used to snarfing down quick simply carbs that give you a quick rush but make you feel crappy in so many ways just a short time later.
Having something in the car, peanuts and raisons AKA trail mix cna work wonders to be able to pull out of the glove box when the feeling gets strong to want to eat something on the go. A healthy protein granola type bar, I've very partial to Kashi bars. Yum and good parts carbs/fats/proteins. Those make a great on the go midday snack for the glove box, the purse, diaper bag, whatever your life situation.
I think the worst things we can do is find ourself with no choices because we lacked planning and our errands ran longer than we anticipated. Thus why sometimes we hit the drive thru's. Remember how unsettled you've felt the last week and some and take that and turn it in to motivation. Start by eating one healthy meal this morning, then your goal is to eat like that the rest of today ONLY.
BUT by tonight you'll be back to planning healthy foods for tomorrow because you'll be so proud of yourself. :drinker:
If tough times happen the best thing we can do (like you are working on right now) is share if we need to and get up and dust ourselves off and realize we have a lifetime to get this right!!!
All the best to your success:flowerforyou:0 -
I like the idea of snacks in the car. Even if I put a banana in the car, I won't be "craving" the banana, so I will know I'm not really that hungry.
I planned out today, and so far so good. Dieting is a bummer! However, having to walk 8 miles to burn off extra food would be a bummer too. LOL.0
