No - one week, no gym, no problem. "Recovery". It's good.

An occasional week off isn't going to hurt. Depending on the intensity of your training a rest week can be good.

    My thoughts exactly!
  • No, you should not notice a decrease in strength after only a week off. In fact, you may actually notice an increase in strength due to your body having some time to recover (depending on the intensity of your workouts). Also, just for future reference and to prevent unnecessary stress, try to look at your progress as a long-term process. Even with constant training we all have ups and downs and plateaus. Look at long term trends rather than daily gains or losses. If you see a trend of losses rather than gains, you need to take a look at things. But if the trend is upward, don't be worried by occasional blips on the radar!

I notice a very temporary loss of strength if I go more than two days in a row without going to the the gym. My first time back I'll do slightly less weight, but by my second trip I'm back to the same strength I was before I missed a few days.
