Look, I'm generally a very modest person... really! But this is *the best* ginger ale that I've ever tasted in my life!!! And I just made it from scratch! And it's sugar-free!

I can't even tell you how glad I am that I tried this!!! It was so simple and it truly is delicious. I can't even calculate the nutrition, folks, because it is essentially a freebie.

Here's how I did it:

1) Boil 4 cups of water
2) Add peeled & finely chopped ginger root (start with a 4 to 5 inch piece)
3) Add stevia (enough to equal 2 cups of sugar, I used 2 tsp of the Sweet Leaf Clear liquid and a fresh-picked stevia leaf to garnish)
4) Bring to a boil & then simmer for 10 minutes or so
5) Strain out the ginger pieces
6) Add some vanilla and lemon flavors if you want (I used natural extracts, 2 tbsp vanilla and 1 tbsp lemon)

This is your ginger syrup base. Keep in a sealed container in the fridge, and when you want some ginger ale, pour a bit in a glass and add seltzer / club soda / sparkling water to taste!!! Enjoy!

The recipe I used is here: http://www.herb-care.com/recipes5.html

With the leftover ginger pieces that I strained out, I made some honeyed ginger brittle... but that's not quite as healthy  I would love to try this with the 35 calorie almond milk ice cream as a ginger ale float. I think I'll do that soon!

I'm so excited! Before I moved, one of my favourite restaurants made their own ginger ale, and then used it in a Moscow mule, which I LOVED! Will definitely be trying this!! Thank you so much!!

So I tried some of this with a couple of tablespoons of frozen Cool Whip Free and... yeah. Delicious "Boston Cooler" or ginger ale float for about 15 calories. Life is good :)

That would be good to keep on hand, and just add warm water. For an upset tummy, or just to aid digestion.
