Welcome to MFPal, the first step on your journey to a new and healthier you!

The best advice I can start with is set realistic goals (mini-goals help a lot), keep an open and honest food/exercise diary (even on bad days), surround yourself with a good support group of MFPals and keep an open mind to any advice or suggestions they might have. And try not to think of it as dieting, that's such a depressing word. What you are doing is changing your lifestyle and becoming more aware of how you eat and exercise and how it affects your body. It's not about depriving yourself of the foods you love - its moderation and getting control of what you eat and how much.

Feel free to add me as a friend, I love supporting others and sharing in their successes keeps me going forward too.

Happy New Year and looking foward to the new you!

  • Good for you, weightloss is an achievable thing...that's the good news. It's a lot of work and effort but it can be done. My advice is to focus on the wins each day or the wins of the week. Think of it as lifestyle change, investing in health vs. medication later, plus looking and feeling your best now...why not! Remeber to be patient and that it is a process...if you run today you may not see the scale change in the next hour but after your body has processed you will see the results. Good luck!
  • Thank you so much! I really do appreciate it! I live in a house where when you set a goal your told how you wont accomplish it or how stupid it is and I need the support. So far this week I am slowly limiting myself on my junk foods, our house is always full of them! And now with the holidays gone we have tons of left overs! My biggest "weakness" is chocolate! I am watching myself with how much of it and what I eat. I am going food shopping tomorrow for myself to get better stuff to keep at work for snacks ( I work an office job my first one) so any healthy easy snack meal ideas?
