I'm looking to start building some muscle, but want to start out slowly. I'm trying to run/walk on the treadmill 3-4 times a week for around 30 mins, but I want to start adding weights 2-3 times a week. Any suggestions on good books/advice that has worked for you?

Starting Strength and StrongLifts 5x5 are good places to start.
New Rules of Lifting for Women is another option, but it's more of a program than a set of principles.
I like doing a full-body lifting routine 3x/week. Deadlifts, squats, overhead press, lat pull down, bench press, and rows. Pushups and pullups.0
