Elliptical Calories?

Hello!! I've recently started using the elliptical as my cardio workout machine:) when I'm done with my workout, the elliptical usually says I burn about 300 Caleries for a 30 min. workout. The machine allows me to enter my weight, so I've been changing the calories on MFP. My question is.. Why does MFP estimate I burn twice as many calories? I'm so confused!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have no idea but its the same for me....I always have to change the mfp calories.....I think its because the elliptical knows how fast and hard you worked out so it calculates by that...and mfp just does an estimate0

^ Yup, I think it's that!
I'm also having somewhat relatable problems. My elliptical estimates that I burn 750 calories/30 min workout (on max resistance & 45 RPM though). That's a gross overestimate, but even taking that into account, MFP's estimate of 220cal/30 min is dubiously low for me.0 -
This confused the hell out of me too, I bought a HRM and work out my calories from that, as it's more reliable0
