Needing some advice...

I've never posted before....but I'm feeling a little discouraged. The past 7 days I've totally pumped up my work outs to an hour everyday (which is huge for me) and I've started moving much more in between work out as well. (dancing with kiddos, making cleaning my house into a work out) Also I've tracked to a T for the past 7 days, eating extremely healthy, and most days I didn't even eat all my allotted calories. I weighed in this morning with only a one pound loss. I don't get it,,,I thought it would be at least 2 pounds...I think I may be expecting too much, but I just felt like all my hard work isn't even worth it. Before I had kids (three years ago) the weight came off FAST, now it doesn't budge, what's up with that?!

Okay, I am done venting...any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

You lost a pound in a week and you're upset?

You need to change your attitude - 1lb per week is a good rate of loss.

Also, you should take at least 1 rest day a week - your muscles need time to recover.

Hey! I understand the frustration. My only thought is that maybe with the increased workouts you should make sure you are eating all of your allotted calories. I've read in a lot of places that you can slow your metabolism if you eat too little, especially if you are doing a lot of exercise. Worth a try!

^^^ I agree with this. I'm no expert but it takes time to change your body. You've only made changes for a week (!!!) - give it time.

Hi. I can't see your food diary but you may be eating your exercise calories. It is possible to eat too much healthy foods. You can pretty much eat as much veggies as you want but you have to limit everything else. Even fruit calories can add up. Also if you eat food tht's high in salt you can gain water weight. But it is great you are exercising!
It's best to lose 1-2 lbs a week that way you know ou are losing fat and not muscle. Also go by how your clotes feel. Not just by what the scale says

Don't get frustrated yet! You haven't given it time. When I first started working out I would lose 2 weeks then gain the third... You're system needs time to adjust and realize what you are doing. Also the not eating all of your calories, if you're suddenly working out more, your body may have gone into a survival mode thinking you are in danger and is starting to store food... give it time, it will come off!

    1 Question,
Are you eating enough? If you're not making your calories, you may actually not be eating enough. You can lose weight by starving for only a short amount of time then your body compensates to keep you from starving. Your metabolism slows down and you find yourself eating less and not losing weight.
I have been slowly changing may metabolism the other way. As you level off in your weight loss you should be able to add calories in. I'm not saying you binge but slowly up your intake until your body adjust. Also, the more you work out the more you need to eat to compensate for it. I can go further into details for using MFP and making adjustments to help you if interested.

You are at that point in your weight loss that you have slowed. It may be time to eat a little more

If you have 75+ lbs to lose 2 lbs/week is ideal,
If you have 40-75 lbs to lose 1.5 lbs/week is ideal,
If you have 25-40 lbs to lose 1 lbs/week is ideal,
If you have 15 -25 lbs to lose 0.5 to 1.0 lbs/week is ideal, and
If you have less than 15 lbs to lose 0.5 lbs/week is ideal.

Then it's up to you to choose your activity level here honestly

Of course, I don't know what you are eating, but the common mistake most make is trying to be too agressive in the goals. If you have any kind of job or care for chldren, you are NOT Sedentary - choose accordingly..

So, if you set your goals here with those two things in mind, this site does a good job. Be honest, log everythng and eat back your exercise calories. That is the way this site is intended to be used.

... But she LOST weight. She just didn't lose as much as she wanted.

The "eating back" exercise calories is very dependent on how accurate someone is tracking calories in/out. Eating back exercise calories, with a built in MFP deficit, is generally not a game breaker.

In this case, OP, I think you're already aware of what's going on... you're expecting too much. Weight isn't linear, and doesn't come off exactly as MFP predicts. ANY loss is a good loss if you're doing things right (calories, exercise, etc.). Start taking measurements in addition to tracking pounds on the scale. A one pound loss might seem disappointing in the meantime, but you need to learn that any loss is progress... and when you notice clothes fitting better, pictures changing, and inches dropping, you will very quickly learn to not care too much about the scale.

Thanks everyone! When I was in weight watchers one pound per week was ideal. I am just expecting too much too fast I think, lol. But, I will start eating back my calories lost from working out. I have 30 pounds to lose for my first goal...maybe 40 or 50...not sure yet, but right now I just want to be under 200. I am at 230. I eat a high protein and low carb diet. I do chobani yogurt and kashi cereal for breakfast, no morning snack, for lunch I do a weight watchers meal, and maybe an apple or cheese, for afternoon snack I like carrots with hummus or dip and supper I eat chicken and veggies or some sort or a giant salad filled with lots of extra veggies. I stay at home with my two young kids all day while my hubby works and have recently started doing a cleaning job twice a week at a local business, so I am very active!
