Sick in the head...

So I have got the crud that is going around...I am downing medicine left and right trying to stay on top of it. Then it dawned on me! Crap! the calories in all this crap must be rediculous. My Dayquil/Nyquil is over 90 cals per dose...then my cough drops are 15 cals each....I am looking at an extra 500 cals just from medicine alone. So, do I eat less to make room for it or do I work out extra to give myself room for the meds? Does anyone have any good ideas on easy exercises I can do to burn some cals? I usually do cardio but think if I do that I will just cough more and thus need more drops...what should I do??

Yoga If you can, do some hot yoga to sweat everything out0

Holy cow! I say, just take the meds, eat lotsa chicken noodle soups and get better! Try to lay off junk food (not that you eat a lot of it), but just focus on getting well!0

Also eat Pho with a ton of Sriracha!!!0

You body is naturally burning more calories fighting off this cold, so drink lots of soup and worry about your health not the calories0

Worry about your health. Not the calories.0

I wouldn't worry as when you are sick your body needs more calories (or energy) to fight the sickness It's a good thing you are getting more in!
I would suggest with your coughing though, as an old remedy, to have hot water with a squeeze of lemon or do a salt water mouth wash. Both will act like a cough drop and you can feel less worried about calories using those methods.0 -

I want to ignore the cals but I am already on day 4 of this crap so thats at least 2000 extra cals in that time. From others that have had it around me, it lasts at least a week....so you can see my concern...0

hydrate well ... perhaps just some curls on the couch.
you'll prolong your illness if you push too hard0 -
Can't you take the dayquil / nyquil tablets? I believe they are calorie free.0

I got gigantic bottles of the liquid several years ago at Sam's club and I am trying to use them up. I hate wasting.0 -

Hookers and blow - sterilize the hookers before and after each use. You should even out.0 -
Definitely don't worry about being on a calorie deficit when sick. Your little white blood cells are fighting a hard fight, trying to kill the invaders and get you feeling better. Unfortunately, your body's response to the invader is what's making you feel so crappy. It's trying to flush out everything by pumping out massive amounts of mucous, raising your temperature to burn off the infection, and draining energy from the rest of your body to fuel the war. Arm them as best as possible with some delicious hot & sour soup, and let the rest of you relax while they do their job. Godspeed to the little guys.0

I wouldn't freak about it, concentrate on getting better first. Lots of liquids, as much healthy fresh food as you can handle and take the meds to help how you feel.
Hope you feel better soon!0 -
Don't worry about calories from the medicine, your body needs the extra food to fight off the bugs...stick to low intensity cardio for exercise - walking, bike, yoga, whatever your body will tolerate...now is not the time to burn fat or build muscle as your body is going to be shunting energy into your immune system, however you can help it out with getting circulation going which will help get the lymphatic system going and help you get well faster...lots of warm fluids and antioxidants...0

It's OK, the vodka is an important part of recovery. It burns up all those infectious little *kitten* and helps you on your path to wellness! And the OJ is full of vitamin C... it's a win/win! Being fit is overrated anyway.0 -
erase this thought from your head.
when you are sick, getting better takes priority. eat good things when you have an apetite. thats all.
thats ALL you should be worrying about.
your body is an amazing machine meant to heal itself, we ignore what our body really needs and wants when we get all out of shape - dont carry that mentality back over and continue ignoring your body's needs.
Your body doesnt NEED to look good this summer. Your body NEEDS to be listened to.
its not your enemy, its the only home your spirit will ever have. treat it like your best friend, not a math problem burden.
AND GET WELL SOON!0 -
