MFP sets me up for 55% carbs and 15% fat + 30% protein. 55% from carbs seems a little high- I am trying to eat a low carb, high protein diet, so how do i know what to set my own info as?

The registered dietician I see told me that nobody should ever go below 40% carbs. She said you need a minimum of 130g of carbs a day (I think that was the number anyways) just to have normal brain function. That being said, I know there are some people on here doing a very low carb diet who swear by it. I know that when I did Atkins for a while way back when, I had a hard time finding the energy to do anything.

I have my macros set at 45% carbs, 30% protein, 25% fats. I do change them sometimes, just to mix things up a bit and keep my body from getting comfortable. 40-30-30, or 50-30-20.

The Mayo Clinic has a short article on the South Beach (low carb) Diet.

And here's a Daily Nutritional Requirements Calculator on CVS's Caremarx site
