Winter running- Eyes watering?

A friend of mine asked me to post this, so bear with me. She is having trouble running on a mountain with her eyes watering- it was both cold and windy in Arizona (I know, I find it hard to believe Arizona gets cold, too, but whatever ) Anyway, she already had sunglasses on - anyone have any other tips/ideas?

I look like I'm at a funeral when I run in the cold

At least it's just her eyes. I get a runny nose too-it's all kinds of sexy. Hence one of a multitude of reasons I don't run outside in the cold.

Me too for snowboarding- I was wondering if there's something more like goggles you could get for running.

I'm actually going snowboarding tomorrow and can't find my goggles!

I have lived in many different climates and walked around always but this is something that I have never heard of. Maybe a medical issue?

 there are days I swear I'd pay $20 for a tissue while out for a run

I experience that, too, but it's only for the first few minutes. My nose runs the entire time, though. Pack kleenex.

I usually have a washcloth snot rag either in my pocket, waistband, or tucked in my shoulder strap. I lose them from time to time though, so I buy cheap semi-disposable ones for this

My snowboarding mittens actually have snot pads built in- but they would be way overkill to run in. A thinner pair of gloves with a snot pad would be awesome.

I use a Baklava and googles but at lower temps then those reached in AZ. Sunglasses (cycling type) with the sides duck taped will also cut wind down and keep a warm layer near the eyes.

Can you expound on how you duck tape the glasses? I can't picture it.

Tape runs under the edge of the frame out and folder back over to the top. Looks a bit like this.

Wish I had kept my pair to show. I now wear a pair of Adidas sports glasses (prescription). Before going to full goggles something like the Terrex Fast model might work.
