Over heating

Does anyone else have trouble with over heating. I've had issues with this my whole life so it's not because I've gained weight. I can step out my front door and be ringing wet by the time I get to the car. So you can imagine how I look and feel after doing the eliptical for an hour. I keep a water bottle next to me so I'm getting fluids. I get so hot and dripping wet. My face feels like its on fire even though I'm not physically tired. After a good work out it takes forever to cool off so I end up being hot and having cold chills. Is this normal? I know sweating should cool me off but good grief.

I sweat like crazy and over heat. The less body fat I have the better it gets, but still more than average. My body is not very efficient at regulating temperature. I enjoy a good sweat when working out so it doesnt bother me so much, humid hot weather on the hand is a bit rough to deal with.
  • Oh yeah.....I do struggle with that too, I thought it was just me. I can give the dog a brisk 20 minute walk and look like I've run a marathon for an hour afterwards, even though I'm not even out of breath and could walk for a lot longer.

Worse is getting ready in the mornings - showering, washing then drying and straightening my hair makes me so hot, my hair goes frizzy and make up just slides off my face.

I also feel cold when no-one else does, so I did a bit of research. I Googled how the body regulates temperature, and what makes this process malfunction, and why some of us are hot and cold when no-one else is.

It turns out I'm simply obese.

I live in Louisiana so I can't get away from humidity. It's extremely bad here. Like I said I had this same problem when I weighed 120lbs. I've even have blacked out a couple of times. Once when I was about 15 all I was doing was standing in line to get on a ride next thing I know is my vision went dark and I hit the ground. After I just started throwing up. After that last episode I'm very aware of the signs and try to prevent that from happening. I wonder if there is anything I can do to make this better. I truly believe its some kind of disorder.
  • Sounds like you either have very low blood pressure (hence the passing out) or maybe even high blood pressure (overheating). Maybe you could ask doc for a battery of blood tests?

Well, it actually is a medical condition. Excessive sweating is called hyperhidrosis. There's not too much you can do unless you have a particular part of your body that gives you trouble. I do believe that if you have something like sweaty hands or particularly sweaty pits, they can inject stuff (I honestly can't remember what the stuff is) to make your sweat glands less active.

But if you don't have extreme problems or feel it's a medical issue, just be sure to wear a strong anti-perspirant and remember that sweating is totally a normal bodily process. Don't sweat it!

I, personally, have really poor circulation to my feet. The get SO COLD in the winter (many a boyfriend has complained about them) and in the summer they turn beet red. It can be really embarrassing. It looks like someone baked my toes in an oven. That's my overheating issue.

I used to run hot most of the time. Ever since I lost ~15 lb, I get cold much more easily. I can even wear sweaters indoors now :)

I have this same problem--except I really don't sweat that much. When I'm working out and my face gets all flushy, I walk outside for a minute to cool down--only thing I know of that helps. Just wish it didn't happen at all.

Oh, and if I'm not working out or staying busy, I am FREEZING cold. I'm talking thermostat at 70, two long sleeve shirts and sweats, with a fleece blanket.

    ^^^Right there with you.

I know I sweat more then most I noticed that around age 10 or so. I would defiantly not get Botox in my arm pits. Even though I'm usually the sweatiest person in the gym. I'm more worried about having a heat stroke then sweating. At one point I did have low blood pressure and low blood sugar but I don't think that's the case anymore. I'm due for my yearly blood work I'll ask the dr about it when I go.

Just an fyi, if youve passed out from heat before it means youre more likely to again. Standing in line? Did you have your knees locked? Thatll do it. Soldiers standing in formation do it. Lock their knees and a few minutes later theyre waking up on the floor.

That was a long time ago I don't think my knees were locked. I have a hard time standing still. It was real hot out. Yeah my husband is a marine retired now. They make them not lock there knees during formation. I've watched a few drop like flys. I think that lowers your blood pressure but I'm not sure.
