sorry... probably dumb question

I like to drink crystal lite lemonade. Does drinking a glass of that still count as a glass of water? I am listing it in my food diary as lemonade but was not sure if I could also add it to my glasses of water consumed per day. Are there rules about this type of thing?

The whole 8 glasses a day thing has no real basis in fact. I would add it to water, I add my cordial.

There's no hard and fast rules. If you want to count it as water, go ahead.

I think you will get different opinions about this one. :)

Me personally, I log only water under the 8 glasses of water scale and add everything else ( tea, coffee, etc. ) to the diary even if it has only 1 cal ( like tea without sugar or milk ).

I would say if it is caffeine free then count it; if it isn't then don't. Reason being caffeine acts as a stimulant and dehydrates you as, due to the way it speeds up your body, you lose more fluid than you gain.
But that's just how I look at it :)

Sorry, but that is not true (the dehydration bit ...it is a stimulant)

I'd count it. Way back when I tried WW I recall them saying that you could count any non-caffienated beverage as water. So crystal lite, herbal teas ect. Personally I'd rather drink rat poison than crystal lite, but if you like it go for it!

Short answer: It depends on why you're counting.

Log it. The Crystal Lite didn't magically change the water at a molecular level into something else.

I add a splash of lemon to my water sometimes to give it a bit of flavour. Still water.

Fluid is fluid. If your concerned about dehydration base it off of the color of your urine. Fluid is in just about everything we consume. I wouldnt stress about it.
