Wow, there was just another post about candida yesterday. I was dealing with candida for the last 10 months or so and finally about a month ago I got it under control and can tell that balance has been restored (yay!!!) That said it was a loooong road to recovery and I as well the first time around put on weight INCREDIBLY fast, I can't remember where I was reading but apparently the candida facilitates weight gain- awesome right, you already feel like crap and then as an added bonus you start packing on the pounds.

The good news is that once you start eating the right foods and getting rid of the overgrowth of yeast the weight really does come off pretty easily. It is still a long process and you have to be incredibly conciencoius about every thing that you eat. Eat very clean, mostly fresh veggies etc. No fruit, no juices, little caffeine (if you have to have any at all), no alcohol, absolutely no processed foods... I think you get the picture. Extreme vigilance for the first couple weeks and vigilant for the next 3 months or so and you should be back to feeling like normal and can slowly begin to reintoduce foods. As you are reintroducing be really careful to listen to your body, it will let you know if you are ready to eat something.

Lastly, check all vitamins and supplements (everything you eat really) as yeast extract is a VERY common filler ingredient in most foods and vitamins. Talk to your Dr. about any medications that you may be taking (obviously any antibiotics will throw a wrench at any progress) and go to the health food store or GNC and pick up some probiotics and start taking them religiously.

I don't know if this is helpful at all, but I do know what you're going through and all about the depression- to put it simply the whole thing just sucks. The bright side though, as I said is that it will get better!
