Weight Lost or Weight to Goal?

Just curious everyone's opinion. I'm thinking of changing my weight loss progress ticker from lbs lost to goal to obtain. I completed my goal for 2012 (40lbs) and am working on 50lbs for 2013. My ticker is my lbs lost currently. Personally, I want to hear opinions on whether you have you found it more motivating to see how much progress you have made in regards to weight lost OR, do you like seeing how far/close you are to reaching your overall goal?

Personally, I prefer the weight lost. It helps me to see what I've been able to accomplish. I like thinking. "Wow! I've shed over 60 lbs!" I'm not a fan of thinking, "Goodness, still need to lose 55 lbs." The first option just seems so much more positive in my head. That said, I'm sure other people think differently and only you can know what is the best motivator for your way of thinking.

That's what I was leaning towards. But, like to see everyone's mentality from those who choose to do it the other way. Love hearing what motivates people differently!

I agree with gerripho.. It's more positive to say I've already lost 56 lbs than to say, I need still need to lose 80 lbs... The other will overpower me with doubt that I could accomplish it, whereas the already lost is a positive statement of an accomplishmet!
When I tell people that I've lost nearly 60 lbs, that's a good thing, but then when I add that I'm only half way there, it's like I am sabotaging myself with such a long stretch ahead of me. Does that make any sense?

Of course, if I only had 10 lbs left to lose, I might change my viewpoint.. then the goal seems more attainable!
