Question about activity level to determine TDEE

I think I could be underestimating my activity level. I don't know weather to consider myself lightly active or moderately active.

At work I'm on my feet all day, for about 10-12 hours a day, and constantly moving. I do break a sweat and breathe pretty heavily at work because I'm constantly running around. I work in a lab and make cosmetics, but to describe my job to others I say it's like working in a very busy restaurant kitchen...making makeup is a lot like cooking.

But since it's my job...I don't count it as exercise.

My BMR is is around 1290. I'm currently consuming about 1500 calories a day. But I have no idea what my activity level would be considered.

I need to lose about 10-15 lbs.

IMO, moderately active. You may be able to go higher than this, especially if you also work out.

Do you have a pedometer, if so how many steps do you take on an average day? Under about 6000 is sedentary, up to about 10,000 is lightly active, up to about 12,000 is moderately active. I say about because definitions do vary from country to country. Lifestyle walking spread through the day is not generally classed as exercise but as physical activity.

I used to wear one at work actually. It varied....some days 15,000...some days 8,000. It depended on what I was doing that day, and if I had a lot of meetings or I was doing a lot of bench work or more paperwork.

It's not just the amount of walking I do. It's how quickly I have to move around to keep up with what I'm doing.

I think I'll start wearing it again just to get a better idea. Maybe on days when I come home all sweaty and tired and have taken over 10000 steps I'll eat a tiny bit more.

I guess I'd be considered lightly active.
