Breast Lump

Options
Hi all!

I am starting over with MFP and really am excited to get myself together again! I found a lump on the 20th of Dec and since then have had an ultrasound and mammo. I am only 34 years old, but the doc said that it looks suspicious, so I am going in for a biopsy now. I am, of course, nervous about what they might find, but am ready to deal with whatever. He said there is a chance that it could be a fibroadenoma, but he was pretty negative about that.

Has anyone else had a mammo that came back abnormal that ended up being ok? I hope I don't have cancer!

Yes!! I have had this happen a few times, and each time is just as scary as the first. I get cysts very often, I also had a benign "tumor" removed, I have had cysts burst during a mammogram too. Waiting to find out the results seems to be the hardest part. Just take a deep breath and think positive thoughts. I am sending good thoughts your way

Yes. I had a mammo and got a call from my doctor's office that I needed to see a specialist. When I asked when, the response was "you have an appointment tomorrow at 10 am." Now that scared me. I went in to see the specialist. My mammo film had been sent over. When he looked at the film, he immediately saw the problem. The tech had mistyped the results. The spot was 9 mm and the tech had typed 9 cm, meaning that it had grown 10x its size. I elected to have the lump removed and tested. It was benign.

This may not be what you meant, but I also wanted to bump it to the top of the message boards. Good luck.
