Hi all,
I pay £25 a month gym membership, which I know isnt too expensive but I am trying to make some cut backs. Are DVD's and other opions such as running outside etc just as good or should I stick with the gym?? I tend to run and do weights at the gym, so I dont really get use of classes etc. Please help!!
Thanks
Heidi

If you use the gym, it's worth it.0

If you are able to perform the same exercises at home then you could save money. It all depends on whether you'd still have the motivation if you were doing it at home.0

My gym is changing its membership and I can no longer afford to keep it up so I'm in the same position. I used the gym for weight training. I have some free weights at home, but I'm not set up to do the big lifts I was doing in the gym. At the moment, I'm trying out a bodyweight programme to see if that helps me to get stronger. I'm actually finding an advantage over the gym - it's easier to fit in.
I would have loved to continue at the gym, but I'm also looking for something I can do for life, or as long as I'm able, and the gym doesn't fit (financially) with that.0 -
If you can workout by yourself, then it's up to you...
The reason why I make sure that I have enough money to go to a fitness center is that I need to go somewhere I can immerse myself into working out so to speak. I also take advantage of as many group exercise classes as possible. Besides, Zumba, and cardio dance are more fun when doing it with others.
In addition, at the fitness center where I work out, I have made some friends and they emotionally support me everyday...0 -
I prefer to go to the gym straight from work. I'm more likely to get it done because I can't get motivated and don't have the room at home. Another plus of the gym is that you can get inspired by watching what other people do and get some great ideas for new/different exercises. Big you make use of the pool or classes, even better!0

There is a lot to be said for being able to work out in your knickers!0

Thank you to everyone for your advice. I'm going to look in to buying some hand weights. There are lots of videos on YouTube that could also be helpful
