Spirulina -- Is this what is Supposed to taste like?

I tried some "spirulina" by natures source and it was so bad tasting, kind of like stale potatoes chips mixed with rotten fish -- that's a "natures source" appetite killer. Didn't drink the crap -- it ended up as a "gag reflux" spray.

Is that what it is supposed to taste like? And if so, how in the world is it supposed to be good for me?

Yeah, it's pretty fishy. I have to put it in water only and drink it really fast. I tell myself, "It is the smell of nature" - but it takes practice.

I've only had it in like a fruit sauce packet thing. I didn't notice a difference, and I'm not sure what it's supposed to do. lol

I thought it tasted like chalk myself. I tried adding a banana and almond milk and it went down easier. However, I decided to skip it and make my own smoothies. Try the skinnyms website. I've found some great smoothies there and healthy. Some are really delicious!

I always use the powders, putting them in smoothies with fruit and yogurt. You can't even taste it like that.

I'm VERY thankful that I did NOT just eat something rotten! Thanks for all the info. I do NOT think bananas would make the PURE spirulina taste go away tho. LOL!

If you put it in a small glass of any liquid (like 6-8 ounces) and drink it without breathing in, it won't gag you. I know, that's a lot of instructions for something that is supposed to be good for you, right?

But you will notice feeling better if you take it for a week or so.

...and I agree with the stale potato chip - though I don't think "rotten" fish...just fishy. It is a water-organism, after all
