I have discovered that my fitness goals for this year are not as specific as they should be. So I plan to re-do them. In March I would like to start training to run a mile. Does anyone have a good work-out plan for this?

Couch to 5k. It'll train you to run 3ish miles.

A mile isn't really that far, is there any reason why you're waiting till March?

How far can you jog at the moment - 5 minutes? Take that as a start point. Don't run every day. But each time you run, go for one minute longer.

There is a plan called "couch to 5k" which builds up from zero to 5k (about 3 miles). If you google that you might get some ideas.

    Good luck!

I was a complete non-runner, and really enjoyed completing the couch 2 5k programme.

I am waiting till March because I haven't ran the mile since I was probably 8 years old due to surgeries and I don't want to just jump into anything too quickly. I would like to ease into it at my own pace. It's also less overwhelming to me to wait that long. Actually, I plan to start running in Feb. so according to the "schedule" I have made for myself March just seemed fitting.
So couch to 5k? I think I will look into it.
    Thanks all!
