Any Canadians out there??

I started MFP awhile ago but unfoprtunately last year was the year from HELL in which I took to comfort eating to help me get through the issues. I am the heaviest now since I lost the weight with my youngest son almost 11 years ago.......I could give up but I won't......I have started 2013 on an extremely positive note and my one promise is to work my *kitten* off to get myself back to where I feel good about myself!!
I would love encouragement..........from anyone......I want people to talk to when I might be getting off track!! Please feel free to ad me as a friend!!

Hi, Nova Scotia here. I'm starting again. Welcome to MFP. It's a great site. It really works. I lost 20 pounds with it last year.

Quebec. Good luck with your renewed resolutions -- you can do it!
  • Hi, I'm from New Brunswick and am ready to start again. My story is almost identical to yours, 2012 was the year from hell and how did I deal with it? I ate and ate and ate. Anyway, I managed to gain 40 lbs. in the later part of 2012 but am focused to get back on track this year and do something for me. Good luck to everyone.

I'm from Winnipeg, Manitoba. I've been on MFP for over a year but went into a relapse of my binge eating over the holidays. I'm stepping it up and hoping to lose what I've gained.

Not an official Canadian, but I'm married to one and I used to live there (New Brunswick) :D Feel free to add me. Would love to help motivate and also need some help myself! Currently living back in my home state of Arkansas.

Warman, Saskatchewan (near Saskatoon). Lost 60+ lbs on MFP a couple of years ago...lost motivation and gained 30-35 back. Trying very hard to get the motivation back and keep it. This is day 7 of faithfully logging food and exercise. I could use friends to help so feel free to add me if you want.

  • Hi from Edmonton, Alberta--almost 29 years-- originally from Hamilton, Ontario. I just started with MFP on December 31, 2012 and I know I have a long way to go--extra large, very short, great gramma. I got injured in 2011 and it took almost almost a year to heal but during that year I went to the Weight Wise Clinic and they got me started keeping a journal so the MFP food log is just fantastic and I don't have to do all the work of looking up the calories. My biggest problem is to get motivated to do some exercise. I have a brand new treadmill in my dining room --facing the TV in the livingroom--L-shaped--but I just cant get started. I couldn,t use it in the beginning because my injury was to my leg but that is now healed and I think I am just making excuses to myself-- I have the calories under control now I need some exercise--any suggestions? Please add me as a friend.

Just try walking during a half hour TV show. Once you get started it's easier to keep going, after a couple weeks you'll really be able to tell the difference in your mood. & a great thing about exercise is for me at least I find it makes me crave healthier foods! it all goes hand in hand. The best way to create a new habit is choose a trigger (in this case choose one of your favourite daily TV shows, or start a new series on DVD and pick a time to be the trigger).
I'm from Edmonton too and if the nice weather keeps up you could also walk outside if the area you live in is cleared of ice. So refreshing. There are also walking/hiking groups you can join on meetup.com if you need the accountability of a group setting.
    Good luck!
