New to MFP - Looking for Fitness Buddies

Hi all,
My name is Becca and I've just joined MFP as I was looking for a place to track my workouts and attempt to log food to see what I'm really eating. I'm 37 years old, mom of two little ones, looking to get into shape.
I have a trip to Peru booked for late April and we will be doing quite a bit of hiking so that is my motivation and I'm trying to commit to a walking/exercise schedule more so than overhauling all of my diet. However of course I'd like to start making some simple changes to get my diet on track as well without making such abrupt changes that I quite before January is out - my typical MO.
