1 ounce of a nut is tricky if you don't have a scale. Has anyone done the work and found how many nuts are actually in each ounce? I know this will vary but i'm interested in what is the general range.

i bought raw whole organic almonds. The nutritional information for them say 1/4c is 170 calories. I found 1/4 c is about 32 almonds.
this is really off from what i've found online for generic almonds that says - that 1 oz=20-25 almonds, 7 cal/almond.
What should I trust? Is it different since they are raw? Will they expand when soaked? Are my almonds just smaller?

I know there is a difference between weight and actual measuring cups, but i dont think it's this big of a difference.

It depends on how big your nuts are

Depending on the nut! All of this info is on the internet! I got on the site and wrote how many of each kind are in a serving! But since then I purchased a scale!

I eat a lot of cashews. The first time I measured out 1/4 cup and weighed it. It was exactly 28 grams, which is the serving size, so from then on I measured them instead of weighing. I don't count the individual cashews because the size varies so I usually just eat them out of the measuring cup.

A bag of raw almonds I bought had 28 whole almonds in one ounce. Since one ounce equals 28 grams, then for those, 1 almond was 1 gram. If that helps. They were the Great value brand whole raw almonds from WalMart
