Do you ever stop being sore?

I've been working out consistently (weights 3 times a week) for 4 months or so. In the beginning, the muscle pain was severe. Now it's noticeable, but doesn't interfere with any activities. I figure it's good; it lets me know I did work the muscles! However, I'm wondering if I will ever stop having muscle soreness? Or, since I will continue to challenge my muscles to lift more, will I always have some degree of soreness?

After 1.5 years of consistent weight training, I'm still sore any time I change up my program or increase my weights. It's not anything like it was when I first started, but I can usually tell I've been lifting weights. It's especially bad after a vacation or long weekend off!0

I don't get muscle soreness in select muscle groups (upper back, shoulders, quads, biceps/triceps) but still get sore in others, I've also noticed I've been less sore after increasing my training frequency for each muscle group (2x a week). I really don't have any studies or sources to explain this (to be honest I don't really care why I'm less sore I'm just happy I can walk after leg day) so take my advice with a grain of salt.0
