Tracking Treadmill Time and Calories

My Fitness Pal reeeeeeeally needs to allow us to track our treadmill time. Im sure walking on the treadmill burns more than just regular walking.

  • The Stair-treadmill ergometer, general setting is not for a treadmill....so we have no choice but to use "walking", but you really can't adjust your walking speed as you can on a treadmill. PLEASE ADD TREADMILL TO YOUR EXERCISES !!!!!

I know for me using a HRM that it burns a lot less. You don't have to propel yourself forward like you do outside. My heart rate is always higher on a brisk walk or a run outside than it is on the treadmill.

If you wear a heart rate monitor, you can add your own exercises w/ your calorie burn.

I am trying to add it to my log if I don't see it in the data base. I have had to do it twice already.
  • At the bottom it says add exercise to the database, doesn't that work?

I don't think walking on the treadmill burns more than walking outside... not unless you use the incline feature, or walk at different speeds.

If you feel your workout better reflects what calories the treadmill shows, you can just put in 30 minutes of walking, and change the number of calories burned to what you saw on the treadmill.

When I walk on the treamill, I tend to either come up with an average say 3.0 (where I walked 2.8-3.2) or break it out into pieces, i.e. if I knew I ran for 5 - 1 minute intervals, I'll do 5 minutes of running and the remaining amount at a walking pace.

    There are lots of options.
  • A treadmill may very well NOT give you a better burn, but for some reason, when I get done on my treadmill and I literally have sweat dripping off of me....I feel like I have really done something. But I really enjoy the outside.
