Could I do this without weighing myself?

I've been here before and lost weight but gained it all back and more. Now I'm back again for a fresh start.

I don't have a scale right now and the only thing I have to weigh myself is the Wii Fit balance board (and who knows how accurate that really is).

So my question is, is it an okay idea to do this without actually weighing myself. At least that way I won't be bummed out when I don't lose, right? The point is to eat better, exercise, and losing the excess weight and not that number on the scale, right?

You totally can...take measurements, or find an outfit to be your barometer and note as it gets looser!

you could use body measurements instead if you have measuring tape. I am much more interested in these results than the scale

you don't have to weigh ever .. just monitor how your clothes fit, tape measure, how your body looks/feels etc ..
even a scale isnt all that accurate (to many things can affect the number) with that said, my wii board was pretty much on target with my scale (usually within 1-2 pounds and that was cuz I normally used my wii after being up for a couple hours)
  • Of course - use pictures, the mirror, how your clothes fit, tape measurements, etc to measure progress.

I lost 40 pounds without a scale. It changes things -- in a good way.

That's a great idea:). Some of us can get a little obsessed with the scale when we least expect to.

I kinda had the same theory. I did not do as well without the scale because I did not have to be accountable for controlling my weight. Sometimes I would dread the scale but it was a way for me to own up to my dietary mistakes. I would then reset my goal and resolve to lose more weight or adjust what I was doing to make sure I was losing. If you still are not thrilled with using the scale maybe you could just start with it then take it from there. Or use measurements or see how clothing fits better to make sure you are meeting your goals. Remember good goals have to be measurable. I hope I don't come off as a know it all because the truth is I am reminding myself of what I do and why as well. Thanks and I hope this helps.
