Walking at an incline

So I like the treadmill but it was starting to get "easy" and I am not comfortable running on the treadmill, I have balance issues and running on something that is moving doesn't work for me, so I started using the incline options. Any way to my point does walking at an incline work your abs more than walking with out one? I ask because both days I did it I noticed my abs were a little sore and usually they are not after my walks. I am walking for the same amount of time and at the same pace so I don't know just wondering. Thanks

Yes, your core is more engaged to keep you balanced when you're going at an incline as opposed to walking on flat ground!

Thanks that makes sense! And that may help with my balance in the long run too yay!

I'm like you with awful balance and I run! I can do it on a treadmill but I enjoy outside better. Maybe give the C25K program a try? You can get it as a free app on your smartphone or ipod through zen labs or you can look it up online and time yourself, but you start out only jogging for 60 seconds with 90 second walks. Somehow, I have yet to fall on my face while running! *knocks on wood*

please don't be one of those people that max out the incline but hold the machine while leaning back.
It totally defeats the purpose of the incline and makes you look like a tool.
