NSV- Cake in the Lunchroom- 'No thanks'

Options
Today I walked into the lunchroom and there sat a beautiful, rich, chocolatey cake, already cut up with a little sign: 'please help yourself', others grabbed a piece and gleefully ate it; I wanted a piece but I thought to myself: you don't even really like that type of cake (black forest) and once you eat it you will feel bad, saturday is your fun day. Then I simply said out loud: oh no thanks guys, you have a bit. Now if it was caramel slice it would have been a much more difficult decision but usually when it comes to sweet foods I will have it even if it has something I don't like in it! Yay for avoiding that because my SO is preparing a beautiful dinner which, if I had eaten the cake would have blown out my daily intake!

That is awesome! It is such a great feeling when we control what we eat vs letting circumstances dictate our eating!! Way to go!

It really can be hard to say no to delicious treats in the office, especially when your coworkers don't understand your goals. Over the holidays a lot of our customers sent us Mrs. Field's baskets and tons of other delicious chocolate truffles and the like. I said no every single time but once (and was still under my calorie goal), but my coworkers gave me a bit of a hard time about it at first. "Oh, come on, you know you want it! It's sooooooooo good! Worth every calorie!" Remember, you are your biggest obstacle when it comes to loosing weight and keeping it off.

Most importantly, by saying no, you're choosing YOU. Way to go girl!

Way to go! This is not always easy to do, but the results will add up.

This is what I have been doing for the last 10 months. For the past 3 days at work someone has brought donuts. I can not honestly say that it is easy, but when I look in the full length mirror (something I avoided at all costs before) I am glad that the will power is coming from some where......it does pay off.

Congratulations! A great NSV! Keep up the good work!

Good for you! It is very hard to be strong when everyone around you is enjoying food. When I worked in an office they always had "treats" and because I was the admin, they insisted they sit on a counter by me, where everyone could see them as they passed by. Well, one day I got up and moved them to the top of a filing cabinet. People grumbled at first, but I didn't care. And when something kept calling my name, I would take "my" serving, walk into the kitchen and dump it down the disposal or in the trash! It was mine to do with what I chose, right? Of course, I wasn't always successful in saying "no". Congrats on a great NSV!!

I'm hearing you, my colleague started back at work today from her Chrissy holidays, she came in with cake that she makes to perfection, just for me knowing full well I am trying to make better food choices. Nope nope nope give it to some one else please i said. Later on in the day I noticed it was still in the fridge and is still there as far as I know. Yeh! :)

once you've started a routine of saying no to bad stuff, it becomes so much easier to stay in the zone.
