Best sources of protein?

(besides meat) what are some good sources of protein? I know of some but I want to add different things to my diet and make sure I am getting a good amount of protein.

Whole grains and various nuts. They provide a pretty good and complete protein profile. Basically, if you want protein but not from meat, you need to eat a variety of protein rich non-meat foods to get a complete protein profile, these whole grains and a variety of nuts is excellent.

The VERY BEST protein that is naturally found is eggs. All protein is rated according to egg protein. If you are looking for better protein than that, whey isolate and casein isolate are even better. Those are isolated milk proteins.

Oily fish, nuts, seeds - all very nutritious aside from the protein.
  • 2 percent or fat free cheese. skim milk, kashi makes a cereal my roomie eats, with fiber twigs and honey puffs in it, it has 13g per serving and a serving is 140.

If it's to be used strictly for nutrition, I find that whey and casein concentrates are better as they have a better nutritional profile. Isolates are really great for that critical I've just burned out my muscles and they are starving right this moment times ;)
