Is this essentially a normal diet as supposed to a low-carb one just wondering what are people's experiences with it i'm finding it difficult to stay within the carb limit some days...eating too many?

I actually had to change my macros in order to stay under. I eat a lot of carbs compared to some. But my body doesn't seem to care, since I'm still losing. I would experiment with changing your macros and see what works with your body.

It's a "Zone" diet macro split.

Pretty decent as a starting point for lots of people.

S.A.D (Standard American Diet) is closer to 60% of Calories from Carbs, 15% from protein, and the rest (25%) from fat.
40/30/30 is the ratio promoted by the zone diet, and some lump it in as a high protein diet. Personally, I consider it a lower carb diet, but not a low carb diet.
There's nothing magical about the ratio that I can tell, however.

My macros are set to this, too. It seems to work better for me.
