Exercise Question

I've been on MFP for about two weeks. In those two weeks I've made it a goal to workout everyday. I have a calendar set up so I alternate between straight cardio, cardio and yoga, and cardio and resistance training. My yoga and resistance days are more intense than most of my cardio days, though I do try to get in at least one moderate intensity cardio workout a week.

Some of my friends think I might be doing too much and I should take a break. How does one know when it's too much?

So far I have had no issues doing the workouts (except the general fact that I'm really out of shape). I don't feel exhausted all the time, and I'm not aching more than usual.

When I say I workout every day, it's not always a really intense workout. Sometimes my workout is just going for a nice long walk around town because the weather is good and I want to go outside. I do put some time between intense workouts so I don't hurt myself, but how do I know if I'm doing too much? Should I go a day where I don't do any sort of workout or are my daily walks fine?

    It is too much when you have the exhausted feeling and aches that you mentioned possibly alogn with worse mood.

    In terms of strength training it could also be too much if you are not progressing at the rate you should provided you are eating and sleeping enough for muscle and strength increase.

    Thanks for the info. I just started strength training so I'll keep that in mind for the future. I don't really have access to weight machines, so I do all my strength training from resistance workouts and hand weights. I do want to start working in a kettle bell workout for some of my strength training days, but for now I just have the resistance bands and hand weights.

    I agree with Full or Win. Also, in my opinion daily walks are fine. I see no problem with moving everyday as long as you are not going to full force that you burn out. That really depends on the person though...
