Hot Yoga? Anyone else?

I recently discovered hot yoga and fell in love! (The place I found does Baptiste style)

Does anyone else here practice Hot Yoga? I'd love to hear from someone who has been practicing for a while. Do you find this to be a sufficient full body workout or do you use it as supplementary to your normal routine?

I have just discovered Yoga at 35 years of age, and my only regret is not trying it sooner!! I LOVE it, especially HOT!!! My normal routine is to run 3-4 miles 3-4 times per week, all kinds of yoga about 5-6 times per week, and spin about 2 times per week. So, I just included it into everything else. I did read somewhere where it burns about 500 calories per hour (hot), so that's a pretty good workout for the day, IMO. Good luck! Cheers to getting stronger, leaner, and more balanced!

I used to use yoga to supplement my other activities - now I do other activities to suplement my yoga - love it!

  • I LOVE hot yoga! I was so bummed when we moved to a city that doesn't have a hot yoga studio. Boo.

I did Bikram 2-3x a week all of last year (and, as a point of comparison, used to do near-daily Ashtanga until I tore my rotator cuff). I honestly have to say I didn't see any appreciable gains in strength from doing Bikram.

Baron Baptiste leans more Ashtangi, if I remember correctly, so if you're doing a lot more full-body weight-bearing asanas in class, then you might see a lot of strength gains. Regardless, the heat and sweat alone really do hit the spot sometimes, though. :)

I do hot yoga too about 1-2 times a week and LOVE it! I find that it really helps my running and over all well-being.
