Detox dieting is a myth?

I read that detox diets are usually variations of starvation diets and do not work b/c they deprive you of nutrients. I also read that the body has a great way of naturally detoxing itself if you eat healthy clean foods on a regular basis.
What is the science behind detox diets and are they healthy? I have read otherwise...that they are nothing, but a Hollywood fad.

Your body will "detox" you even if you don't eat healthily, unless you have an actual liver or kidney disease.
Detoxes are at best useless and at worst can be harmful (dehydration, lack of nutrients etc).

I do not have a scientific input to give you, but my understanding is that while one may lose weight with a detox diet plan, once they go back to eating regular foods again they will gain it all back. But, I could be wrong. I do not really see how this is healthy, either. I think balance is the key in a healthy diet, along with regular excersise.0

if the kidneys and liver are functioning anywhere near normal, your body is constantly detoxing.....that's what those organs do, amongst other things.0

I personally wouldn't trust anything out in the market. BUT have you ever seen Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead? Its a documentary on Netflix instant. Its quite interesting to say the least. He went on a detox which was a fresh juice fast for 60 days. The results speak for themselves...0

I couldn't live on juice for 60 days. I'd go nuts with hunger.0
