I’ve been up and down with my weight my whole life and pretty much accepted that I would always be overweight. I’ve started and stopped diets for a long as I can remember with no lasting results. But hey, I have a husband who loves me so it’s not that bad, right? Wrong.
I had a doctor appointment last December and wanted to cry when I saw the number on the scale. I’ve never in my life been over 200 pounds. To make matters worse, my doctor told me that if I got pregnant weighing what I did, (my husband and are planning to get pregnant at the beginning of 2011) I would have a much higher risk of gestational diabetes, hypertension, preeclampsia and a whole list of things I don’t want to deal with. I cried for two days.
That New Years I made the decision that by the time December 2010 came around there would be 50 pounds less of me. A healthy baby and pregnancy is so far the only thing that has been able to help me stick with this. Today I’m wearing a pair of jeans that I couldn’t zip up at Christmas – and they’re a little loose on me!!!! My husband is wonderful and is very supportive of my goals. He doesn’t complain when I make healthy modifications to my cooking, walks 2 miles with me almost every night after dinner and cheers me on while I let Jillian Michaels kick my butt. Most importantly, he always makes sure that I know he loves me regardless of what the scale says. But he is thin and has never had a problem with his weight, so he can’t completely understand what I’m going through. I’m glad I’ve found a site to connect me with others who are dealing with the same things I am.
I welcome any suggestions you may have!!!

Welcome Ron! This will be a very exciting journey for you and now, instead of just having your husband's support (which I am sure is more than sufficient), You will have hundreds of people cheering for you Hope you reach your goal and have a happy pregnancy in the future0
