Someone mentioned Grim Fandango. Never played it, but it looked amazing and pretty darn unique. A detective style noir set in a Mexican dia de los muertos style land of the dead. Cool.

The same developer made a game called Psychonauts, which I also have not played, but which looked amazing. Apparently the guy was ahead of his time and somewhat unappreciated.

Anyway, Grim Fandango made me think of MediEvil. Anyone? Anyone?!?

Thanks to you reminding me about Dungeon Keeper (I only played the 2nd one when I was younger and LOVED IT) I went ahead and bought the 1st and 2nd one off gog.com. Let's hope they'll run on Windows 7. I know older games have a compatibility issue with a newer OS.

Oh yes, I've played Grim Fandango and MediEvil. I'd forgotten about MediEvil. I loved the atmosphere and music of that game. Grim Fandango as a favourite but I found it frustratingly hard at times trying to work out what to do. But it was very funny. I still find myself thinking of quotes from it. "The secret to my happiness is that I have the heart of a child. I keep it in a jar ..."

I also used to like Discworld Noir at around the same time.

May CoX rest in peace. Greatest MMORPG in the world and it's gone. What server were you on? I was Red Scout on Triumph.

I don't want to sound like an idiot, but here goes.... What's N+

I think Halo: CE should be on the top 10 best games ever made, and I'm not such a fan of consoles beyond N64 or PS2.

Anyone remember a game called Harrier Attack on the ZX Spectrum, lol ?

Anyway, I have not gamed as much as I would like to, and only just got a ps3, so still exploring games for that, but :

    1) FF IX.
    2) Kingdom Hearts.
    3) Red Dead Redemption.

Most likely change once I have tried skyrim and some of the other ps3 games.

    1. Call of Duty (kinda cheatin by not naming versions, but all of em had me hooked)
    2. Metal gear solid 3
    3. Final Fantasy VII

They are the games that have eaten most of my spare time in the last decade or so.

    1) CoD Modern Warfare 3. I've replayed it a dozen times. Awesome every time.
    2) Jumpman on my Commodore 64. Not because it was a great game, but it was the first game that I truly became addicted to, back in 1984.
    3) GTA 4. I mean, bowling, cars, hookers, gangs, thugs, drugs, money and guns. How awesome is that?

World of Warcraft. The golden standard in mmorpg. Untouchable.
Contra. Arguably the beginning of shooter games as a franchise.
Mario. Around since dirt was new and still going strong. Can't deny it.

N+ is a run and jump 'ninja' type game on Xbox. It's actually a lot of fun, you have to go through puzzle levels without getting killed.

I agree. All the best games seemed to have been made for N64.
    Unless that's just me

So many amazing games over the years, three is a REALLY hard to decide on (so I decided the best criteria was games that I felt sad after completing).

    In no particular order...

    1) Halflife 2.
    2) Star Wars: Knights of the old republic.
    3) Overlord.
