Belly fat is usually the last thing to go but you can't make it a target. Fat goes off where and when it wants to and there are no super foods or exercises that make it leave.

Unfortunately, what Mokey41 said is true. However, if you want to make things look better in the belly area work out your core. It doesn't target the fat loss but stronger muscles will make everything look tighter/leaner. HTH.

This. Just be patient and keep working... i'll happen.

Make sure you are eating right (healthy deficit and good macros) and busting your *kitten* during your workouts.

Thanks : ) now that I know I will work on being more patient. I definitely need to improve with the busting my *kitten* during workouts things. I struggle with laziness and find it hard not to stop working out as soon as I feel a little pain and get tired

    thanks everyone

I agree with the PPs, but I also found that when I ramped up my cardio activities (higher intensities for longer durations) I noticed that I lost a lot more in my stomach area than I did when I went easy on the cardio. Last year Feb-July I lost 29 lbs and 1.75" off my waist at my belly button. From July-Sept I lost 16 lbs and 5.5" off my waist at my belly button! The only difference is that I really started getting in to exercising at that time. I went from about 20 minutes easy-moderate effort 3-4 times a week to at least 4 30 minute moderate-high effort workouts and another 5-10 15-20 minute moderate effort workouts per week (usually went for a good fast walk with hills on breaks at work).

Core strength vinyasa yoga - mine went! But it took a few months regular practice... Check out Sadie Nardini on U-Tube. Good luck!

Pilates and yoga to work your core will tighten your tummy at every weight point, and the definition will keep improving as you reduce total body fat! Don't forget that as you lose weight, your body proportions will keep changing, so don't be too hard on yourself if it looks like you've got a spare tire for awhile! It will flatten! Just keep up those exercises! :)

Wow good for you!!! :) I find it hard to have that much motivation to truly stay motivated to working out I try to focus on cardio. One week I'll work out as much as I should and the next I won't move more than I have to

  • Get the book, "The Flat Belly Diet" by Prevention Magazine. It's based on research showing that monounsaturated fats (in olive oil, almonds, avacados, etc.) work to reduce the stubborn base layers of fat found everywhere on the body, especially the belly. I lost 7 lbs in 3 weeks and really noticed the change in my belly. Then I went on vacation and gained it all back....but I'm back on track now!

I do better on my belly with lower carbs, but I think that has more to do with bloating.

As for exercising, while it won't spot reduce, toning all the way around you torso is good for keeping what is there, tucked in, so to speak. And belly dancing is great for that as well as alot of fun.

Read reviews of the book. It's not magic and there are no magic foods. Though, as mentioned some foods have the tendency to create more bloat. To lose the fat on your stomach (and everywhere), eat a healthy diet, at a healthy calorie deficit, do some exercise and be patient. You can do all the core exercises in the world but you won't see them until the fat is gone.
  • Stair climbing, jumping jack best exercise for burning calories, and food which is low in carbs and high in fiber. Apple, avocado and whole grain foods. You can find here list of foods which is low in calories. http://www.howmanycaloriesloseweight.com/low-calorie-foods.html

Theres no such thing as fat spot reduction. Unfortunately its quite a myth. Your best bet is to eat a low fat diet and exercise.

Low fat isn't necessary, unless you're eating so much fat that it makes you exceed your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure).

Patience and persistence are key. Your belly fat is "stubborn" because that is the area that your body is predisposed to store fat. I'm the same. I'm now about in the middle of a the healthy weight range for my height, and a healthy body fat % (not sure of the exact number) and it's only really now that my abdomen is looking flatter. Just keep losing fat with a moderate calorie deficit.
