Working with weights/calorie burn

Does anyone know why when I work with weights it gives me the option to log my workout but doesn't give me credit for calories burned??

I don't log my exercise, but I think you have to use the Weight Lifting that is listed under Cardio in the MFP app

because it is almost impossible to accurately calculate the burn from weight training. If you want a number so bad get a HRM and record it as cardio.

    That's what I do.

or just log it as cardio and MFP gives you an estimate like any other cardio activity. The strength training option is just for logging and record keeping.

HRMs are very inaccurate for strength training.

OP, try using "Strength Training" under cardio. It actually gives a fairly decent estimation of the calories burnt while strength training. The strength training section of the exercise tab can just be used as a log to keep track of what exercises you were specifically doing and what weights you were using, so you can record your progression over time. It's not very useful or well laid out though, I prefer to use another exercise tracker (fitocracy).

There are two boxes on the exercise page. Search for "strength training" on the top one (Cardiovascular). it will give you a prompt to list the number of minutes you trained. Add the minutes and it will give you the calories. Use the bottom box to keep track of the exercises you do -- it is a way to record exercise sessions and note your improvement over time.

Impossible to know, there is a strength training cardio option but it won't be accurate.
    I generally don't log it.

Tha:blushing: nks all..it wasn't that I "wanted to know so bad"...it was that I was attempting to be accurate
