Exercise and large boobs

Options
Hi girls,

I'm a 19 year old girl with 28J boobs, and I'm finding it quite hard to exercise. I used to love jogging and using the cross trainer, but in the past 6 months, I've gone from being a fairly comfortable 28E to a 28J, although my weight has stayed pretty much the same, at around 125-30lbs. I ride horses wearing a Freya 'Active' bra, which is just about OK, but I'd love to be able to do some more cardio -based work. I'm really self conscious about my chest, so I'd rather exercise at home rather than at the gym.

Can anybody help? I want the endorphin rush of exercise without the pain of my boobs!!

Thanks x

I'm also quite a chesty lady and I'm also a rider. I don't like running at all, for exactly that reason. But, I love working out at home. I've been doing the Jillian Michaels DVD's for the last couple of weeks. Believe me, it's great workouts and you are going to feel it! I've done 30 Day Shred, which I loved! Now I'm doing 6 week, 6 pack, which I enjoy, but I'm convinced that woman is trying to kill me! I wear a good sportsbra, which I also use for horseriding and it keeps the girls quite well under control.

Invest in a really good sports bra, it will make a whole world of difference (I speak from experience! )

Hi, I'm a large cup too, so I face a similar problem. However, I do find the minimiser bra quite good, as the breasts look smaller, so therefore not as 'in your face' (so to speak) movement.

I do need to get a good sports bra though, so I'll be looking for a minimising sports one.

I quite like Zumba for this reason, as you can get your whole body moving, so it doesn't look too out of sorts.

    Try doubling on sport bra.
Like a lighter one that as more compression as you don't want to screw up your ribs or lungs.
I'm often around trans folk and I know what doubling up or over doing it with compression shirts, especially while doing sports can ruin your rib cage.
Have you tried the Enell sports bra? A lot of big chested girls and gender non-conforming folks swear by that one.

Maybe you should start thinking reduction (just my opinion please no one bite my head off). My sister is a GG and is going in next month for her reduction because she struggles with exercise do to her back (weight from the bobos). I'm a DD and I double up, bra + sports bra...can't imagine a J eeek!

Honestly... buy a good bra. I'm a 32DD, I used to wear 3 sports bras and now I use moving comfort. Granted they are not sexy but they keep your stuff from bouncing around and making things hurt. They seriously work. I run and do high impact sports. They are not cheap but I have had the same 2 bras for going on 4 years now. So well worth the money in my opionion. Here is a link to the exact one that I use. (no uni-boob either since it has an underwire)

I know they can be costly, but if you have a Bravissimo store anywhere near you, I'd recommend you pop in and talk to them (if you haven't already). They specialise in underwear for us busty ladies and might have some good tips for you to try too! :)

I'm a 36JJ and I Wear a very good sports bra and then a tight sports vest with built in shelf bra support under my normal t-shirt - it even copes with jumping jacks!

I recommend Bravissimo and Shock absorbers

I am a FF and I wear the Freya Active Underwired or the Shock Absorber Active Multisports. I don't have to double up with anything on them, but I make sure they are a good fit, which means when they are brand new it takes longer to get in and out of them than the rest of getting changed put together. Feats of engineering they are.

Thank you everybody for your replies. I have a good sports bra, (an underwired Freya Active) and I think I'm going to have a go at swimming with a minimiser swimsuit from Bravisimmo. I will consider a reduction when I'm older, but my doctor has told me that I have to wait until I'm 21, to make sure they've stopped growing.

Thank you everyone, and I'd be more than happy for any more suggestions!

A girl I know plays alot of sports and has a similar problem. She has found that a sports bra doesn't quite do the job when running so she uses a large tensor bandage and wraps her chest up with it. I'm guessing this is on top of her sports bra and then wears a tight tank and tshirt. It is what she has suggested to me.

Not helpful - they're natural and I'm really self conscious about them!
