Running shoes for flat feet?

Hey everyone! So, aching shins and knees mean it's time for new running shoes. I'm wondering if anyone has any feedback on shoes that won't break the bank? I spent about $140 on my last pair- a pair of Brooks that were awesome! I'm not willing to sacrifice comfort for cost, but just curious if anyone has had any luck with less expensive shoes? I'm looking for running shoes specifically for flat feet. Thanks :-)

You will really be best off to go to a specialty running store and ask them to help you.

If you really don't have a local running store, look on the Brooks website, since that is what you had before and worked for you. They categorize shoes into 4 broad categories - nuetral, guidance, support, control (you probably have shoes from either support or control). You could buy a cheaper pair from them in the same category. $140 is on the higher end of pricing so there should be something cheaper.

Thanks for this! Yes, I agree! I actually did buy my last pair at my local running shop :-). Which I think is great to support the local shops, but would like to try to keep price under $100 this time (if I can?)

Definitely agree on this. I always go to a running store so they can watch my stride and give me a few to try out. My stride has actually changed in the last few years so I'm using a medium stability shoe instead of high now. And it doesn't cost you any extra, just the cost of the shoes. Let them know your price range when you go in and they may be able to help keep the budget lower.

You should look into custom orthotics that tailor their support to your individual feet. If that's too expensive for you most running stores have a selection of arch supports. They run 30-60 dollars but last through several pairs of shoes. My custom ones cost 400 but I've had them for 8 years

Definitely go to a running store for an assessment. To answer your question, though, I have the Nike Lunarglide 4's. My feet are extremely flat, but these are honestly the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn in my life. Might be worth it for you to check those out!

Did you tell the store you needed cheaper? Curious, what Brooks model were you wearing before?

I currently own a pair of Brook Dyads, and these were the pair that they fitted me for about a year ago. I do love them, and see they have them on brooks site for $110. I've also found last years model, which I currently own, cheaper other places since they have new models out now, but no where in my size :-(

I currently run in Ascis Gel Cumulus 14s and they have been very good. They are light and very comfortable. You can find them from $80-110 depending on where you shop.

How is your arch? I actually saw a pair of Asics Gel Cumulus in the local Marshalls the other day, and thought it was a steal for $50 :-). But I knew I wouldn't be able to return them if they didn't work out.

I have the trifecta of having flat feet, hurtful bunions & being obese. I'll check out some of these suggestions
