check walgreens or walmart pharmacy department. They have ankle supports. Also look into super supportive running shoes. You might want to talk to your doctor if you're worried and see if he can recommend anything specially designed for running.0

How have you injured yourself in the past? Being clumsy (like me!) and tripping? Or has it been more serious?
If you twisted your ankles previously while running it makes me wonder how your shoes are. If you go to a nice running store they will help you find shoes good for your feet. I have super duper supportive shoes and now I don't pronate like I used to. Maybe you could look into that?
I twisted my ankle recently, and my sports Dr told me to just keep running. I couldn't believe it! It didn't really hurt to run, just a little sore afterward, and a week later all better! My Dr tells me to just keep moving, keep going (obviously under appropriate conditions, if my bone was popping out of my leg I probably wouldnt run!!)
Have you talked to a Dr about your situation? That's always a great place to start!!0 -
This is me! I've sprained my ankles (both) so many times over the past 15 years!!!
I completed my first half marathon this past summer. LOL...but two weeks before the race I sprained my ankle!!!! I did pretty good for a couple of years of not spraining but because of the heavy training for the marathon my ankles got weak....and boom...I was on a party boat drunk and slipped while getting back on the boat. *kitten* happens...but I was so mad because my race was right around the corner! I went to PT every other day till the race and had my ankle wrapped in kinesio tape (funny tape you seen on athletes during the olympics). Sure helped....I was able to finish...barely. :-)
So here's my advice. Make sure you get good supportive shoes. I recommend going to a running store that looks at your running form and gait. Also, go to a good podiatrist and find out if you might need orthodics. I found out I did since I'm flat footed and my ankles roll in. You might also be prescribed to go to physical therapy to strengthen your ankles.
For daily runs, before I got my good shoes and orthodics I wore and ace bandage. However, I found mine to hurt my foot after a couple of miles. I recommend spending a few extra bucks and get a good running brace. I can't remember the brand, but I'm sure if you google it you might find some recommendations.
Good luck!0 -

the most recent injury was barefoot in my moms backyard step in a pot whole i didnt see tripped and tore a ligament that goes to my big toe. had to wear a boot and then an air cast then all better. problem is now im scared to run outside at all because i fear i will trip or something and hurt it all over again. the other 2 major ligament injuries i sustained were once in middle school during volleyball practice came down on my ankle and the other in high school during P.E playing racketball both times terrible once i went to the doctor and they said it was a 2nd degree sprain and the other time i didnt but could apply pressure for 3 weeks just lots of ice and elevate. my mom wasnt every big on taking us to the doctor.0
