New to this :)

Hi all,I'm new to this & can't help but feel nervous.I need to lose two stone as my confidence has gone & It's getting me down.I'm determined this year & I feel so motivated.I do have a question which I hope someone can answer lol .When I log into the home page it says how many calories I have left to eat and under the word goal it says 1200.1200 isn't really enough but when I add my exercise to the diary it says I have earned 73 calories from exercising & that my daily goal is 1,273.It also has net=649.I don't understand how many calories I should be eating or what the net number means?
thank you X

First of all, your goal calories seems low. Click on Goals on the home page and make sure all your stats are set right.

If it tells you that your "Goal" is 1200, that's how much you can eat to be far enough under your calories burned for the day (figured by normal daily activity level) to lose weight at your goal rate.

When you exercise you're burning more calories than what was calculated by your normal daily activities, so you can eat more. It changes your "Goal" to reflect this.

The formula for "Net" is basically Calories Eaten minus Calories Burned (from exercise). Your "Net" and "Goal" should be equal (or close).

I changed my daily activities as light as I think it suits me better. It looks better now so thank you :)
  • I don't recommend tracking exercise calories burned as that seems to be a futile process. Instead I'd use the harris benedict formula and manually put that in as your goal. If you need any help with that let me know. =D
