I am 5'11 male about 185 looking to trim down to about 170. I have a full time job and I am doing insanity in the evenings. My problem is my calorie intake. I didn't eat a lot before I decided to change maybe 1400 - 1800 with the crazy day stuck in there but mainly from really bad food (soda, fast food). Now it looks like I need to eat almost 2000 calories to achieve the weight loss I am looking for. I have come up short everyday ending up somewhere around 1200-1300 calories of nothing but water, lean meats, fruits and veggies. I feel full and would have to force myself to eat that much food am I on the right path by just listening to my body and not forcing extra food or do I need to work up to the 2000 calorie a day goal?

No, don't listen to your body. You need to eat some dietary fat.0

Work up to the 2000. YOu can have ice cream, or chips, or whatever. Just keep working at it...you'll eventually figure it out. Have some nuts, add butter to your cooking, etc.0

I personally feel like if I don't want to eat i wont. I have never been an advocate of the 'you MUST ......' to loose weight
I feel that your body knows whats right
Its different if your not getting the calories in whilst being constantly hungry, tired etc
if you are doing ok I don't see why you should force yourself
If you do want to up the cals maybe consider protein shakes etc to get in the cals without making you overly full0 -
How in Hades did you end up 5'11" 185 and can't eat but 1200 calories now? Fat is the answer if you're really having trouble eating enough.0

I can't see either of your diaries but have you added higher calorie but nutrient dense foods like nuts? Thirty grams of walnuts have about 200 calories and lots of omega 3's plus other good for you stuff. Different nuts will have different nutrient profiles. Brazil nuts are really high in selenium, you can get your day's worth of RDA in one Brazil nut! Just watch your fat levels because nuts are high in them but fat is good for you.
Seeds are another option. If you having salads or smoothies you can toss them in there and not notice them much. Flax, chia, pumpkin, etc, there are many healthy seeds you can toss into your diet that will up your calories a little but still be good for you.0 -
