Any ladies with husbands in the Military that are deployed?

My husband just left for Afghanistan about 3 weeks ago and he will be gone around 9 months. Would love to lose 60lbs while he's away and would love to have support from ladies in a situation like mine. I have a 22 month old son as well. Please feel free to add me.

Hubby is not in the military so sorry, I don't fit into that category. But I have a hard time believing there is not another person in the same boat. So here is a bump. You can do this:flowerforyou:0

I was half-expecting this thread to have been started by a guy. Giggity giggity.0

My husband isn't in the military but he does work away from home. He will be in Angola for the next 2 years on an 8 week on/4 week off rotation. Its a far cry from what you are going through, but you are more than welcome to add me0

My husband isn't deployed, but he's in BMT (graduates this month!) and then goes to tech school for the next six months. I'm hoping to lose weight while he's gone because I really want him to be proud of me (it's not my only reason, I want to get healthy this was just my motivation). Good luck with your journey!0

Thanks ladies!0

Is that because it was asking for just women? A little disappointing when people automatically think things like that.0 -

Thanks, good luck with yours as well! I was with my husband (boyfriend at the time) when he went to Basic Training and A.I.T. but was working at that time. It made things easier. Now I'm a stay at home mom and have to make time to get some exercise in. Feel free to add me if you'd like.0 -
Guess I don't trust strangers on the Internet ... Especially as former active duty and seeing the craziness that goes on stateside during deployments.0

Yea, crazy things do happen during deployments this is true.0

hubby's not in the military but will be contracting for the military in Greece. He'll be leaving in about two weeks and he'll be gone for about 9 months too before he comes back for vacation - then will leave again for another 9 months or so before we'll see him again. I've never been away from him for that length of time - longest has been 6 weeks, and that was so difficult. Feel free to friend me - my only plan for an anchor right now is to keep myself busy with getting in shape and looking good for his return home.0
-
You can do this!! Think positive, keep yourself busy, and focus. He'll be so proud when he comes home.0

Thank for the encouragement everyone. It will be difficult but we have been through the long distances away from each other before. I just need to keep motivated enough to lose this weight. Would love for him to come back and be surprised.0

Been there..done that.. gotta say the internet made it lot easier with emails..I remember back in the day when all there was snail mail and an occasional phone call..
I am no longer in that situation but you can add me if you want since I have been through my share of deployments..0 -
My hubby is a vet but he deployed 3 times during his 6years of active duty so I have been where you are! Add me if you like0

Search for the military wives group-- there are several of us doing deployments right now. My hubby is in submarines and has shorter deployments but it has its own set of challenges (no contact except occasional email, for one thing). He's been gone 2 1/2 months and I have been losing weight while he's gone.0

Yea, he calls every day. Thank goodness for the phone app magicjack. Free calls from anywhere so he gets to call us. I'm just really looking for the support to lose the weight. I have lots of ladies here at Fort Riley to help support me for the deployment but don't know many who are looking to lose weight.
I'll shoot you a friend request.0 -

Sounds like a tough time but glad you are making something of the situation. I will definitely be searching for that group. Thanks bunches!!0 -

My boyfriend left about a month and a half ago, and I'm having a hard time getting up and getting moving. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one trying to stay fit while I'm stuck here home all on my own0

I've got a kiddo, FRG stuff, and classes offered on post to getting me up but my problem is getting in real exercise as well as watching my food intake. Please feel free to add me as we could use all the support we can get.0 -
I work 60 hours a week (granted, a lot of it is on my feet), so I'm CONSTANTLY busy. I don't want to come home from a 12 hour work day and put in more time at the gym. I just don't know what else to do0

What about those whose husband is stationed 1500 miles away from where they are stationed??
I'm in San Antonio - husband is in Norfolk. While we get to see each other every 3to4 months, it's still tough with different schedules and completely different jobs.0 -

Yea, you bet. It's not exactly the same thing but it pretty darn close. Please feel free to add me.0 -
i have a 2 year old and a 7 month old and a deployed hubby I'm trying to lose weight to look good for a nice surprise when he comes home.0

My husband is a Marine that is leaving in march, and I am getting started now, so by the time he gets home I can blow him away with the changes I have made to my health and my body this will be my first deployment so i figure it will be a great distraction too!0

My husband is in the military but he is not deployed. I just joined myfitnesspal today! I definitely need some encouragement, I always start a program and try working out but I never seem to be able to stick to it.0

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't gotten back to this thread until now. There were no comments on it for a while so I thought it was a lost cause.
@ LARob1683, please feel free to add me. We can all use as much encouragement as we can get!!
@pinkstay that's a really great idea. I was just so stressed with everything that needed to be done before he left as well as him leaving that I didn't even think about starting before he left. You will do great during the deployment, just keep your chin up and know that one day down equals one day closer. If you'd like to add me please feel free.
@Cont3mplate how are your little ones doing during this deployment? How are you doing? You've already lost 28lbs so that is absolutely FANTASTIC. You are going to rock this weight loss like it's going out of style.0 -
Thank you! our oldest who is 2 he is doing fine he gets so excited when he sees his dad on skype or to even talk to him on the phone. I'm just worried about our 7 month old..I make sure I do my best to show him pictures and to let him see and hear him on Skype he'll smile but I just don't want him to go through that panic stage of not knowing who he is when gets home.
You can do it..you have the best motivators and supporters here! These 28 pounds left are going to be the worst since I got back into my comfortable eating stage blaaaaah lol..I want to start clean eating and drinking nothing but water soon and give my Herbalife program a break.0
