weightlifting for women - where to start?

I've been looking into a few different directions to go. I want to change my body composition by strength training, I am underweight and I want to get rid of my existing bit of fat and get fit. I've seen people recommend "The Rebel Strength Guide" from nerdfitness.com.. although it's a bit pricey I will spend the money if it's worth it. Also have seen "The New Rules of Lifting for Women." Can anyone point me in the right direction? I need a program or plan to follow since I don't really know where to start.

I'd start with New Rules. It is an excellent program and I learned a lot and had good strength gains from it. I did it 2x actually.
You can't be intimidated to use racks and stuff like that in the gym though. You'll need access to barbells, dumbbells, weights, a box, etc., if you really want to do it correctly.0 -
Thanks for the advice!0
