People Who Have Done Supreme 90 or P90X

I have a question. I started doing Supreme 90 today (it's the cheap man's version of P90X... http://amzn.com/B004S2YN5O ) and I am thinking of sticking with my own cardio (I love the crossramp at the gym...it's my zone out time to think) instead of the two cardio DVDs (Tabata Inferno, Cardio Challenge). I know that the Tabata incorporates things like squats, etc, but since I'm doing the other DVDs with include strength training, I was wondering if I'll still see results without doing those two videos. I plan on just substituting my own cardio on the days that call for either of those DVDs.

Thanks in advance!

i think, at the end of the day, it is that you are doing something applicable on those days. Ask yourself: "Am I doing it for the same amount of time" and "Am I doing it at the same intensity".

if you can answer both of those yes, then do what works for you and what you will continue to do.

I did supreme 90 from july-oct and lost two pant sizes. I did every video BUT the cardio Challenge b/c i absolutely hated it. I did do running 2-3 times a week on top of the videos as well. Also, I didn't follow the meals plans......I found the program to be a bit boring and slow for my taste. I just started Insanity now and love it! But wouldn't of been able to handle it if I didn't start with supreme 90

I do plan on doing my usual crossramp cardio (45 minutes). I gradually up the ramp and the resistance over that time and get a pretty good workout. I just didn't know if not doing the squats in the one video would affect my results. But I guess doing the ramp and resistance is also working my butt.

Before today I was doing zero strength training and I definitely feel fatigued in my chest/back, the video I did today. It also looks like the DVDs for strength training are anywhere between 25-55 minutes in length, so that's good.

Any other experiences with Supreme 90 out there?

Congrats on your two pants sizes!! I think I will, as well, change up what system I'm using when I'm done with this one. Maybe do all of them in rotation eventually!

I can't speak to Supreme 90, but when I did P90x, I stuck with the program to the letter for the first 60 days, and then went mostly back to my own cardio routines (Spin class, running, and swimming). I simply wasn't getting the same level of burn at P90x, but then again, cycling and spin class leave me in a sweaty puddle on the floor.

That being said, variation is always helpful in building a better body. For example, the P90x plyometric workout hits in ways that no run, swim, or bike ever will; cross-training is always a win.

Also, remember it's your time, your workout, and your goals. Do what keeps you motivated and happy.

Very true! I spent years trying to do ones that I hated, only to get burned out in a couple of weeks. I feel like this will be a happy medium for me. To get some strength training in while also doing the cardio I love!

Btw, any thoughts on weight lifting vs. P90X or Supreme 90?

I am doing Supreme 90 now. I got bored with the workouts after the first week. So now I do cardio for my warmup and yoga for my cooldown. It has made a huge difference in number of calories and my motivation.
