Hi Fibre, Low GI/Carbs post op - can't train!

Hi there...I just had colorectal surgery and I've been advised to eat a high fibre diet. It's going to be a balance of eating enough fibre and drinking enough water but not so much bulk that I end up with cramps and pain.

I had been doing very well up until xmas with 5/6 days of training for about 7wks (boot camp, PT, lifting heavy lots of body weight work) and eating 130g protein/day and lots of green veg but at the moment, at least for the next week to two weeks, I cannot train (can lift nothing heavy or even light!) as I was training so I think I'll only be allowed to do some walking (moderate speed, no hills) and that's it. I've adjusted my exercise goals to ZERO and keeping my cals to 1200/day as I stil want to lose a stone to a stone and a half and not lose my muscle (I gained some muscle!)...

Any suggestions for me of hi fibre/low GI/low Carb foods that I haven't thought of?

Here is what I'm planning on incorporating:

avocados
milled flaxseed
berries
broccoli
cauliflower
spinach
watercress

Life Force liquid multivitamin once a day
Live probiotic, Udo's Super8

3L of water minimum
as much protein as I can take, starting with 90g and adjusting, to prevent constipation, one protein shake a day if required
shot of: lemon juice organic freshly squeezed, wheatgrass, l glutamine with every meal

Any other hi fibre foods that you can think of which will both fill me up and not add lots of carbs? Thanks for your help in advance!

  • I think they're a bit too carby for me...I do better with lower carb foods.
