I suck

The secret to long term success is to change your thinking. Think of calories like money, you get to budget and "spend" them however you like. If you want to spend a larger allotment on say, pizza for lunch, just adjust the rest of your meals and snacks around the remaining calories. I learned years ago in Weight Watches that there are no failures, just feedback. The main thing now is for you to get back up, dust yourself off and keep trying! Good luck!0

First of all - You do not suck. It's tough starting out like that. One day of pizza does not mean you are a failure. Truly. Tomorrow is a new day, and you have every opportunity to make better food decisions, one that make you feel good about what you're eating. Personally, I would not be full or satiated from a breakfast like that. You probably could have a microwaved egg on whole grain bread with a piece of cheese for the same amount of calories, and incorporate protein and a tiny bit of fat for satiety. It's a process, you have to retrain yourself and how you respond to food. It's slow, it takes work, but it's doable. Good Luck!0

Telling yourself that you suck and are a failure are definitely not ways to motivate yourself and are not going to help! Change the way you think and the way you talk to yourself and good things will follow!0
-
Hey you are NOT a failure. As long as you keep trying and don't give up or quit, then you are a WINNER. Make little notes with positive messages/affirmations and put them around your house, stop the negative self talk (I know it's hard, I have been there and working on it myself), but being down on yourself makes you eat even more. Don't worry about bad days, you fall seven times, pick yourself back up eight times. You can do it, believe in yourself and all you are capable of achieving. Feel free to add me.0

You guys are great support lol
I'll start fresh tomorrow , the first few days are always the hardest hopefully I can get into the habit of healthy eating soon0 -
You'll never get anywhere with an attitude like that. Buck up and try harder tomorrow.0

I started off on MFP just making myself log in everything all day long. Even if I was over by 1000 calories or more (which I was for the first week at least). All I wanted to do was get used to logging everything in and seeing where I was, then as time went on I started eating less and less and making better choices because I knew I didn't want to have that bag of chips in my diary, it wasn't worth it. The biggest thing was I did it everyday. And now I love looking back where I started because I was eating so much EVERY day and slowly without even realizing it I got better. So right now I suggest just starting everyday as a new day, just log and slowly you will start to make better choices because you are learning more about yourself and your food choices.
Don't aim for perfection just aim for completion! Then you can worry about changing one thing at a time instead of EVERYTHING at One time.0 -
Don't be so hard on yourself! It is only ONE day! It took a while to gain it and it will take a while to lose it. Keep working at it! For me the "have a little" does not work... it is a slippery slope. I gradually cut the junk completely out of my diet (over years). I think the motivation comes AFTER you start seeing the weight drop off. Until that time, you have to just keep yourself inspired with the promise that if you eat right you WILL be losing! Start with ONE thing... do you drink soda? One of the worst offenders.... start there! Or do you eat a lot of processed crackers/cookies, etc? That sort of thing... You can do it!0

1. Pizza isnt always that bad
2. what counts is your total daily intake over days, weeks months... not a single bloody meal
3. Stop being a self-indulged cry baby. No-one is going to do this for you, if you want to be thinner, healthier, whatever-er - work for it. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.
4. Keep on punchin' :laugh:0 -
Here's all the advice I have for a beginner:

yeah, 1 slice of pizza isn't bad at all. you didn't say how many slices you had though.0

The hardest part is getting started. Stop beating yourself up and just do it! Best of luck!

Don't sweat eating pizza. You can eat things just as long as they fit into your macros. If they fit inside of your calorie, fats, and carb allowance than it is okay. Just be careful with the rest of your meals later that day so you stay at or under your maintenance level of fats, carbs, and calories. The protein portion is okay. The more the better
I mean, I've been eating Chipotle for meals a couple times a week. It fits into my calories and macros and I am still losing weight . (I learned this from a youtuber Matt Ogus. he is a natural bodybuilder and does the same thing. Youtube: flexforall2)0 -
IN NEED OF MOTIVATION N FRIENDS TO GET ME THRU THIS. I NEED TO LOSE WEIGHT I AM SO DESPRATE THAT I HAVE TRIED ALL TYPES OF DIETS N DIET PILLS. I ALSO HAVE HYPOTHYROID WHICH DOESN'T HELP ME AT ALL. I AM A HISPANIC FEMALE THAT JUST LOVES MEXICAN FOOD N IT IS VERY HARD TO JUST QUIT COLD TURKEY. I HAVE TRIED TO EAT HEALTHY BUT BY THE END OF THE DAY I HAVE EATEN MORE THEN WHAT I SHOULD I AM A STAY AT HOME MOM. I CAN NOT SEEM TO MOTIVATE MYSELF TO ACCOMPLISH A GOAL I LOOK AT MYSELF IN THE MIRROR N IT MAKES ME FEEL WORSE. I WISH I WAS LESS HEAVIER THEN WHAT I AM NOW. I SUCK AT MAKING DIETS
Why are you yelling? And why don't you just post this in your own thread?0 -
Don't sweat it, it took me three weeks of slowly reducing my intake to get a real start here. I was averaging around 3,000 a day during the week not counting weekends. Ease into it. Just track what you normally eat to begin with so you know where you are, then start reducing it day by day. Sudden changes don't usually work. It'll get easier. And don't tell yourself stuff like that. You don't suck. Give it time0

you don't suck, you're human!0

Aw nah lady!! This is real life! You will eat pizza sometimes! Did you log everything? I bet you aren't as over calories as you think. Now I saw from your profile that you are a mommy. If your little one didn't do perfectly at something he was trying to learn the first few times would you tell him he sucked?? I didn't think so! You treat yourself just as well as you treat your kiddo, mama. You deserve it.0

Yeah you're right... I didn't log it because I was ashamed lol but ill log it in now just as a reminder of what my habits were for future reference0 -

are you freaking kidding me, you are freaking out over ONE SLICE OF PIZZA??!?
OK it might not have been the best choice in the world but have a sensible dinner and it will still be a good day... I need to get out of this thread before my head explodes.
Oh, and don't even get me started on the irony of your username...

1 slice is only like 240 calories according to mfp. that really isn't that bad.
yeah, non-diet soda is worse than the pizza imo, but still just one soda isn't terrible.0 -
only if you quit0
-
Meh, everyone has pizza once in awhile. Don't think of it as a diets, where you can't eat things, instead as a lifestyle of healthy eating.0
-

Did it cause you to go over calories? If not, then don't worry about it. Also, don't weigh yourself for a few days, as pizza has a high sodium level, which can cause water retention. Keep your chin up, drink plenty of water and remember that you're human.0 -
I suck too.
I'm great at sucking. Oh, wait, that's not the kind of sucking that we're talking about? Nevermind.0 -
Today is the fourth day in a row I've had pizza. You'll be fine. Move on.0

Officially my hero. For realz.0 -
You don't suck. We have all been there before. Just stay positive and strong, set your goals and plug away at them. And just know you will have days where you derail from the plan and its ok. Everyone does it and I think it's good to have those kind of days. Good luck and stay strong!0
